The Majlis Amanah Rakyat (commonly abbreviated as MARA) is a Malaysian government agency. It was formed to aid, train, and guide in the areas of business and industry. MARA was formed on March 1, 1966 under the Rural and National Development Ministry

MARA has been sponsoring Bumiputra students for many years to further their studies abroad in top universities around the world especially in the UK and Ireland under the “Skim Pelajar Cemerlang” (SPC)

Field of Study

Field of that is usually sponsored:-

* Engineering

* Expertise Medical / Dental / Science and Technology (Applied Medical Course)

* Allied Health Sciences

* Information Technology / Computer Science / Information Systems

* Biotechnology

* Applied Science

* Quantitative Science

* Pure Sciences

* Finance / Banking / Accounting / Economics / International Business / Professional

* Accounting - CA / ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW and related

* Architecture

* Legislation

* Technical and non-technical areas critical to national needs

As of 1^st September 2007, MARA sponsored students enjoys the same allowance rate and its packages as all the JPA students do.

The new allowance rate and its packages as announced by JPA are as follows:

* London, University of Oxford & University of Cambridge
** Surrey, Reading, Bath, Bristol & Edinburgh
*** other than the above
